October 13, Word Steel Association (Worldsteel) Board had its 2021 Annual Video Meeting, Worldsteel and HBIS Chairman Mr.Yu Yong held the meeting and made a speech. Chairmans or CEOs from SABIC, USS, Baowu, POSCO, Colakoglu Metalurji A.S, Jindal South West Group, JFE, ArcelorMittal, Severstal Steel, Tata Steel, Dexing Group, Nucor Steel and Voestalpine, and Worldsteel Director General Edwin Basson attended the meeting.

In his speech, Yu Yong said the top priority of steel industry was the safety and health of the people. In the past two years of his term, the safety record of world steel industry in special circumstance of the COVID-19 Pandemic makes him proud. The people have followed the new social protocals and got their job done in this challenging time. Besides, steel industries of the world have provide their supports to their communities.  

Yu Yong said, addressing climate change is the biggest challenge the steel industry is facing and an ongoing one. Worldsteel has pubished the Climate Change & Steel Production to stress its full support to the Paris Agreement. Steel industry is dedicated to reduce their emission with better procedures, and the adoption of more scrap materials. In future, world steel industry will continue to monitor, report and reduce their Carbon emissions and will work with their clients, governments and other stakeholders to provide low caron steel products and markets.

Yu Yong said he was honored to be the chairman of World Steel Association and he hoped that Worldsteel, steel industry and future leaders will take their responsibilities and continue this great journey. He thanked the great efforts of every member company and every employee, and it was their efforts making steel industry a raw model to all industries. 

The meeting elected the new Chairman of the board and Yu Yong will be the Vice Chairman of 2021/2022 Wolrdsteel. JSW Steel CEO and POSCO CEO were elected to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the board. The meeting also announced the winners of 2021 Safety & Positional Health Excellence Award and Steelie Award, in which HBIS Online Craftman Training and Creation Platform won the Edution & Training Excellence Award.
